Call Classifiers

Learn more about call classifiers within Keyfax KeyNect.

The Call Classifiers page accessible via the KeyNect portal is the area for the desktop user (such as an office staff member or advisor) to define different call classifiers.

What is a Call Classifier?

A Call Classifier in KeyNect is a powerful configuration tool used to define the specific technical and operational properties applied to a video call or a group of calls.

The primary function of a Call Classifier is to configure KeyNect to treat groups of calls differently by imbueing the call with the properties defined against that call classifier.

Key Uses and Configuration

When creating a call via the KeyNect UI (without Keyfax), a user can enter a string in the "Call Classifier" field. This string must match the name of a known classifier; using an unknown classifier will prevent the call from being created.

Call Classifiers are managed and edited by Customer Admins, and they control a wide range of settings, including video quality, audio parameters, location services, and settings for one-way calls.

Technical and Quality Settings

These parameters allow administrators to manage data quality versus bandwidth constraints:

  • Video Bit Rate: Defines the video quality; higher rates can cause issues in low bandwidth areas.

  • Audio Bit Rate: Defines the audio quality; higher rates mean better quality but can also cause low bandwidth issues.

  • Frames per Second (FPS): Determines the smoothness of the video recording; too high can cause issues in low bandwidth areas.

  • Video Frame Height/Width: The pixel size of the video image, where keeping this small reduces bandwidth use.

  • Video Compression Chunk Length: The sampling time between storage of video data.

Location Tracking Settings

  • Get GPS Location from mobile: If set, the mobile device is requested to send its GPS location, which is recorded alongside the session details.

  • Map Link Formatter: Used on the Call Resources search results page as the link address for the mapping system (e.g., Google or Bing maps) to display the call location.

One-Way Call Settings

KeyNect supports calls where tenants can record issues (such as ASB or noise nuisance) in a single-user scenario. The Classifier provides settings specific to this functionality:

  • Name of the Classifier.

  • Notification Email Address: The email address notified when a new one-way message has arrived.

  • Allowed length of One Way Call (in seconds): The maximum length permitted for the recording.

  • Thank you page HTML: The HTML displayed once a one-way call is completed.
