# Keyfax Client

The Keyfax Client application is displayed in an Internet Explorer® browser window. This allows any user with access to the Intranet server on which the Keyfax web-service is running.

Depending on the type of host Customer Relationship Management system (CRM) or Housing Management System (HMS) software a customer is running will depend on how Keyfax is displayed, i.e. it may appear in an frame or pop-up window, e.g.

## Windows based hosts

For Microsoft® Windows® based host CRM or HMS applications where [apis](https://docs.keyfax.biz/integrations/apis "mention") support is not available there is normally a requirement for a native Keyfax Client installation. The Keyfax Client will display Keyfax in a browser control owned and controlled by the host application code.

## Browser based hosts

For a host CRM or HMS which are *browser* based, there is NO client installation requirement as the Keyfax runs within the same browser window or within a frame or pop-up window.&#x20;

## Exiting the Keyfax Client

The 'cleanest' way to exit the Client pop-up window is to click the 'Cancel Current Script' button:

<figure><img src="https://2882349412-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F-MARm6St_qFGM52R3pBa%2Fuploads%2FtVIndGgwL6oMCNl9U0Po%2Fimage.png?alt=media&#x26;token=66313901-7118-4b53-9beb-ede56d7dda70" alt=""><figcaption><p>How to correctly exit the Keyfax Client application</p></figcaption></figure>

{% hint style="info" %}
Note that the newer versions of Keyfax occupy a slightly larger layout and when the Keyfax Client is first launched by the host system. rather than seeing the left hand menu of Categories, you will see a 'hamburger' (three horizontal lines).&#x20;

Clicking the hamburger will display the menu. However, if you enlarge the Client window, the menu will automatically appear. The Client window's size and position will be remembered when you return to the host so you should no longer see the hamburger!
{% endhint %}
